Craft This!!

Craft This!!

Ok people let me just say this "HOBBY LOBBY and MICHAELS craft stores rock my world!!" I know what you're thinking and yes crafting is for people of ALL ages, not just the quilting circles. They have a myriad of things from painting, to woodwork, to models, to scrapbooks, fabrics and of course anything you could think of for quilting as well. Did I mention the wonderful housewares and decor waiting to be purchased?

Seriously, the best thing possible is to gather the kids and just go and see what creativity is unleashed. When you first walk in they're going to complain that this store is for middle aged adult women but just walk to the back where all the crafts are located and just wander isle to isle. You won't make it to the end without something catching your eye. For instance, I myself decided to paint. Do I know how? I don't know that I don't until I try. Check back every few days to see it, i'll post pictures. It won't be done for about two weeks but no reason that you can't come back just to visit.

But seriously, you could do some serious home decorating for some seriously amazing bargains. You can either purchase it yourself or do the ultimate customization. Nothing says mine like I did it myself!! I'm not saying you HAVE to go or are REQUIRED to go but...do it for yourself. Just give it a shot. I mean who doesn't need a little creative outflow in their life? Oh and remember "Full of style doesnt have to mean empty pockets!!!"

What's The Deal With Shoes??

What's The Deal With Shoes??

As I sit here and eat a cookie, I can't help but contemplate my day's excursion and feel that vindication is in order. Like many women (but apparently not enough) I have been endowed with large feet. Unfortunately for me, everyone in the shoe industry seems to think that women with large feet have no sense of style or taste, as evident in the atrocious shoes offered in larger sizes in many retail chains.

Apparently, the idea of a larger footed woman in stylish shoes is simply outrageous and offensive. Well ladies who happen to share in my despair, have hope!! For below I have included 5 websites varying in cost, which offer shoes from the standard sizes all the way up to a size 15. The best part?? THEY'RE ACTUALLY STYLISH! I feel it's my duty to share what I’ve stumbled upon with other women nationwide because I don't want to see another size 11 lime green house slipper!!

Ladies, go forth and browse and remember...Full of style doesn’t have to mean empty pockets!!

Walmart Worries

Walmart Worries

The wonders of Walmart are almost endless, and when I refer to almost I'm referring to the staff. Now, don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with people who work hard everyday and make an honest living and just happen to work at Walmart. I'm referring to the 20-40% that haven't any idea what's going on. Prime example.

I went to Walmart with a friend of mine and we were in search of a cutlery set. We first encountered three Walmart associates who all stated "Oh this isn't my section." Now is it just me or is it oddly convienent that NO ONE is EVER in their section? I wonder if I worked at Walmart would I wander around the store denying customers help on the basis that "this isn't my section".  Anyways, so just when you think the worst is over, we stumbled upon an associate who claimed to have known where the cutlery was. We asked very simply "Excuse me, where would the cooking knives be located?" He then answered "cooking knives?"....We should have run away then.

After a quick explanation that people use knives in the kitchen to chop and cut things, he pointed us towards the rear of the store. With a hopeful pep in our step we started to the rear of the store. (This ladies and gentlemen is where the story gets ridiculous. ) As we approach the rear we start noticing riffles, bows and arrows, fishing rods, hunting appareal and all other things needed for killing wild animals. Can anyone explain to me why this young man pointed us to the hunting section?

This young man decided that we needed to use 7 inch serated sling blades with gutting capabilities in our kitchen!!! The worst part? We asked another associate for the one that specializes in cookware and cutlery and we were reunited with our friend! Moral of the story? Walmart is a wonderful place to shop if you have a general idea of where everything is located, or don't mind wandering the store for hours on end.

And as if my Walmart experience couldn't get any more glorious, I went in yet again (darn those wonderful prices) to purchase a flat screen television. I know where they're located and only needed an associate to pull one from the back and load it in the truck. Ladies and gentlemen I still do not have my television. Why may you ask? Because this wonderful associate informed me that someone had moved his scanning gun so he could not sell me the television. Does anyone else see a problem with this?? He could not find HIS scanning gun so he COULD NOT sell me a television...

Of course if I'd gotten to the register, just like always, there would be 80 customers and 3 registers open. WHY ENDURE THE PAINS OF WALMART? Because the prices are just so gosh darn wonderful on most electronics, food and random household needed goods.

With the holidays approaching, I would suggest decorations, food and gifts could be purchased at Walmart but be sure to get there early and be prepared to stay late. But it's worth it because it's like I always say "Full of style doesn't have to mean empty pockets"
